EBTC is currently looking for an Intellectual Property Intern to assist our Head Legal/IPR.

This offers intervenes in the framework of our IP activities, as the European Patent Office's representative in India and to further the development of our Europe-India IP Facilitation Forum. The IP facilitation forum is constituted to promote the use of patents and patent information, improving access to the respective patent systems, building capacity in the use of patent information, and fostering innovation.

5th Indo-European Conference on Patents and ICT

We are pleased to announce that the 5th Indo-European Conference on Patents and ICT is going to be organised on 4-5 December 2017 in New Delhi.

The European Patent Office (EPO) and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in association with the European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC), are hosting the event.

Highlights of this year’s conference include:

  • Keynote speeches by EPO and Indian government on recent developments in the European and Indian patent and innovation systems
  • High-level discussion rounds on the role of IPR in emerging technologies (e.g. IoT, AI, big data); evolving global perspectives on software patents; IP and the software product industry

IP as a Strategic Tool for Startups and Innovators in the ICT and Electronics Sector

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of the Government of India, organised a National Conference on Intellectual Property as a Strategic Tool for Startups and Innovators in the ICT and Electronics Sector, on 4th May 2017 at the PHD House in New Delhi. The objective of the conference was to discuss how MSME, start-ups and innovators in electronics and the ICT sector can strategize the use of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) as a strategic management tool for the growth and longevity of their businesses. The Conference was very well received with the government, industry and the academia.

Ankita Tyagi, IP manager at EBTC, was invited to participate in an expert panel for the plenary session of the conference, which was chaired by Dr. H Purushotham, chairman and managing director of the National Research and Development Corporation (NRDC) at the Ministry of Science and Technology of Govt. of India. Other eminent speakers included Ms. Palak Bhatia, Advisor at Start-Up India, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India; Ms. Lakshika Joshi, Head IPR, Nucleus Software; Mr. Anil Kumar, Senior Consultant, LexOrbis Consulting Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Jitendra Sharma, Assistant Manager - Legal IP/IT, MetLife.

Ankita Tyagi addressed the Technical Session on the India-EU IP Facilitation Forum. She said that EBTC facilitates Indo-European collaborations by supporting the governments and private sector in India with in-depth knowledge and information of available technologies and frameworks for providing access to innovations and solutions created in European countries. She mentioned some of the important aspects of the India-EU IP ecosystem, such as the use of patents and patent information, building capacity as well as improving access to patent systems.
